15,000 Lumens for Professional Large-Screen Projection

Brightness is one of the most important considerations when selecting a projector for large venues. With 15,000 ANSI lumens, the MX-X15000U provides substantial brightness headroom for larger projection surfaces and environments where some ambient light cannot be completely controlled.

This brightness class is particularly suitable for professional installations that require more output than typical 8,000–12,000 lumen projectors while not necessarily requiring a 20,000+ lumen system.

Actual projector brightness requirements depend on screen size, ambient light, projection surface reflectivity, throw distance, lens efficiency, image content, and required contrast.

WUXGA 1920 × 1200 Native Resolution

The MX-X15000U features a native WUXGA 1920 × 1200 resolution with a 16:10 aspect ratio, providing detailed images for professional presentation, visualization, and large-format content.

The projector also accepts computer input signals up to 4K@30Hz, allowing integration with modern AV sources while maintaining WUXGA as its native display resolution.

Large venue projector

3LCD Projection Technology

Built around three 0.76-inch LCD panels, the projector uses 3LCD projection technology to produce bright and naturally balanced color images.

This makes it well suited to large-screen applications where color consistency and strong visual impact are important, including exhibitions, corporate events, stage backgrounds, museums and immersive projection environments.

Laser Light Source with 20,000-Hour Life

The laser light source is rated for up to 20,000 hours in both Normal and ECO operating modes, reducing the need for frequent lamp replacement compared with traditional lamp-based large venue projectors.

A closed internal circulation design also eliminates the need for a conventional dust filter, helping simplify routine maintenance in permanent professional installations.

This broad lens range allows system integrators to select a lens according to the actual relationship between projection distance and image width rather than forcing the installation around a fixed lens.

How to Select the Correct Projection Lens

The starting point for lens selection is the required throw ratio:

Throw Ratio = Projection Distance ÷ Image Width

For example, if the projector lens is positioned 20 meters from the screen and the required image width is 10 meters:

20 m ÷ 10 m = 2.0:1

A lens whose throw-ratio range includes approximately 2.0:1 should therefore be considered. Final selection should also account for lens shift, installation tolerances, image dimensions, and site conditions.

Lens Shift for Flexible Projector Placement

The standard lens configuration supports vertical lens shift from +50% to -10% and horizontal lens shift of ±20%, providing additional optical positioning flexibility during installation.

Lens shift can help installers align the projected image with the screen while reducing reliance on digital correction, which is particularly useful for ceiling mounts, rear projection rooms and complex large venue installations.

Advanced Geometry Correction

Complex projection environments do not always allow the projector to be positioned perfectly perpendicular to the projection surface. The MX-X15000U therefore includes multiple image adjustment tools for professional installation.

Supported functions include vertical ±30° keystone correction, horizontal ±30° keystone correction, pincushion/barrel correction, 6-corner geometry correction and grid image tuning.

These functions help installers align images on large screens and irregular projection surfaces where precise physical positioning may be difficult.

Edge Blending for Multi-Projector Systems

For projection surfaces that exceed the practical coverage of a single projector, the MX-X15000U supports edge blending for multi-projector installations.

Multiple projectors can be configured to create a larger continuous visual canvas for immersive rooms, wide stages, exhibitions and projection mapping systems. Geometry correction is used to align the individual images, while edge blending helps create smoother transitions between overlapping projection areas.

360° Flexible Installation

The projector supports 360° omnidirectional installation, providing greater flexibility when mounting the projector in different orientations.

This is particularly valuable for professional AV installations where projectors may need to be ceiling-mounted, positioned vertically or integrated into custom structures for immersive and projection mapping projects.

15,000 Lumens vs Other Brightness Classes

A 15,000 lumen projector occupies an important position between mid-range large venue projectors and ultra-high-brightness 20,000+ lumen systems.

Brightness Class

Typical Starting Applications

Positioning

10,000 Lumens

Auditoriums, exhibitions, indoor events

Medium large-venue applications

12,000 Lumens

Stage, museum, immersive projection

More brightness headroom

15,000 Lumens

Large stages, events, mapping, large screens

High-brightness professional applications

20,000 Lumens

Large mapping, major events, very large screens

Ultra-high-brightness applications

22,000–25,000 Lumens

Large-scale mapping and demanding venue projects

Maximum brightness headroom

These categories should be treated as starting references rather than fixed rules. Required brightness depends heavily on screen area, ambient light, projection surface, lens selection, throw distance, and desired contrast.

Why Choose the SMX 15000 Lumen Projector?

The MX-X15000U is designed for professional AV projects where brightness alone is not enough. Its combination of 15,000 ANSI lumens, 3LCD imaging, WUXGA resolution, interchangeable lenses, optical lens shift, geometry correction, edge blending and professional control interfaces gives system integrators greater flexibility when designing complex large-screen projection systems.

Instead of choosing a projector based only on lumen output, SMX can help evaluate the complete projection system according to screen dimensions, throw distance, ambient light, mounting position and application requirements.

Need Help Selecting the Right Projector and Lens?

For large venue projects, projector selection should begin with the installation conditions rather than brightness alone.

Send us your screen width and height, projector-to-screen distance, ambient-light conditions, installation position and application type. Our team can help evaluate the suitable projector brightness and lens throw ratio for your project.
